Sweetest Cherries Watercolor Slimline Card

Today's card was created to celebrate World Water Coloring month.  I pulled out the Fluid 100 watercolor paper, my water painters and a couple different ink colors.   The Sweetest Cherries bundle comes with an easy-to-use Cherry builder punch that makes this card super easy to create.  I hope this inspires you to try some water coloring.

Stampin' Up!

Measurements:
8-1/2" x 7" Very Vanilla card base, scored at 3-1/2"
8-1/4" x 3-1/4" Cherry Cobbler cardstock
8-1/8" x 3-3/8" Very Vanilla card stock
3/4" x 8-1/8" strip of DSP

Instruction:
1.  Using water painters apply Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Early Espresso ink. to Fluid 100 watercolor paper.  To create variation in color, add additional layers of ink.  Allow to dry completely.
2.  Heat emboss sentiment on strip of Cherry Cobbler card stock.
3.  Spritz Vanilla layer with Soft Suede Stampin' Blend.  Adhere DSP to Vanilla layer, add to Cherry Cobbler layer.  Tie Vanilla baker's twine around front panel and adhere to card base.
4.  Punch out cherry pieces and assemble.  Adhere to card front as shown using Stampin' Dimensionals.
5.  Add sentiment and opal rounds.   Enjoy!

Hello from Sugar Creek Stamping.   Today's post is featuring the Hand-Penned Suite from the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog.  The new 2021-2023 In Colors are fabulous! I'm using Pale Papaya and Soft Succulent for this card.  Continue reading for step by step instructions and a full list of supplies.  Hope you enjoy, and check back soon for more inspiration.

Hand-Penned Suite

The dimensions for the card:

4-1/4" x 5-1/2" Card Base
4" x 5-1/4" embossed cardstock
2-3/4" x 8-1/2" cardstock (score at 4-1/4)
3" x 4-1/4" cardstock
2-1/2" x 4" Designer Series Paper (DSP)
2-3/4" x 4" cardstock
2-1/2" x 3-3/4" white (I used water color paper, and die from Scalloped Contours)

Here's how I put it together:
  1. Emboss the 4" x 5-1/4" layer, using the Brick & Mortar 3D embossing folder.
  2. Apply a messy water color wash using Pool Party ink to the Scalloped Contours die. Set this aside to dry.
  3. Stamp the flower image, using Basic Gray ink and color using Pale Papaya and Soft Succulent Stamping Blends.  Die cut using matching Penned Flowers dies.
  4. Fold the 2-3/4" x 8-1/2" cardstock in half and adhere to the card base at the bottom edge.
  5. Adhere the embossed layer over the card base layer.  You will cover up the back side of the folded piece with the embossed layer, creating a hinge at the bottom of the card.
  6. Add DSP to front of hinged piece.
  7. Adhere the 2-3/4" x 4" cardstock on top of the 3" x 4-1/4" cardstock. Add the water colored die as a top layer.
  8. Using Stampin' Dimensionals add the flower image on top of the water colored die.
  9. Adhere this layer to card front, being careful to apply adhesive only to the bottom section, no glue above 1/2 way up so that the card will open.
  10. Add bow and gems to embellish.   Enjoy!
