Triple Play Thursday 20 August 2020

Welcome everyone!!!  I am so very happy you have joined me today for another edition of Triple Play Thursday.   The stamp set featured this week is Basket of Blooms.   The images are perfect for creating beautiful and cheerful hand made card to share with someone special.

Basket of Blooms

The featured card today uses the basket image and the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper. Note the orientation on this card is horizontal, not vertical like the other two cards today.   This layout is very flexible and looks great for both orientations.

Basket of Blooms

Started with a piece of 5" x 4 1/4" Very Vanilla cardstock.  Emboss using the Tasteful Textile embossing folder then wrapped with Linen Thread.  Next, stamp the basket image using Gray Granite Ink on a piece of DSP from the In Good Taste printed paper.  The basket is then hand cut (fussy cut) from the DSP.  The coordinating piece of printed paper is 3" x 4" and is layered behind the Stitched So Sweetly die, slightly offset at an angle.  I'm using the second to largest Stitched So Sweetly die cut from Very Vanilla cardstock.   The flowers are stamped in Gray Granite ink on Very Vanilla and then colored with Calypso Coral (center) and Petal Pink (petal ends) Blends.  The leaves are also stamped in Gray Granite on Very Vanilla cardstock and colored with Old Olive Blends, then fussy cut.  The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings stamped in Early Espresso on a piece of Very Vanilla.  The flowers are adhered using Stampin' Dimensional with Champaign Rhinestones added to make the centers sparkle.  A beautiful card for any occasion, simply adjust the sentiment.

The second card shifts orientation to vertical, and highlights some bright new In Colors, Magenta Madness and Bumblebee.

Basket of Bloom

The background layer of this card is embossed with the Brick & Mortar embossing folder, then spritzed using the Magenta Madness Blends.  Tie a Magenta Madness ribbon around the embossed layer, then adhered to a Thick Whisper White card base.   The printed paper is from the Flowers for Every Season Designer Series Paper.   Next, to create the focal image, the flower pot was stamped on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock using Memento Black Ink, then colored with Cinnamon Cider Blends and fussy cut out.  The flowers were stamped with Memento Black Ink and the smaller flowers are colored with Mango Melody and fussy cut, and the larger flowers were colored with Magenta Madness and punched out with the coordinating Small Bloom punch.  I've added Wink of Stella to each flower, for a little sparkle.  The leaf images are stamped directly on the Stitched So Sweetly die, and colored with Granny Apple Green.   I adhered the flower pot using Stampin' Dimensional and then added the flowers. The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings stamped in Magenta Madness on a piece of Whisper White.  The finishing touch is adding 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots to the flower centers and sprinkled on the card.

The final card today also uses In Colors, both current year (Just Jade) and last year (Pretty Peacock).

Basket of Blooms

The background layer of this card is embossed with the Brick & Mortar embossing folder on Gray Granite cardstock.  Next tie a Just Jade ribbon around the embossed layer, then adhered to a Just Jade card base.   The Stitched So Sweetly dies is cut from printed paper using the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper.   The 3" x 4" piece is Pretty Peacock card stock, separated using the faux suede technique. Next, to create the focal image, the flower pot was stamped on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock using Memento Black Ink, and colored with Just Jade Blends and fussy cut out.  The flowers were stamped with Memento Black Ink and colored with Highland Heather and Pool Party and fussy cut.  The leaf images are stamped in Memento Black Ink and colored with Pretty Peacock Blends.   I adhered the flower pot using Stampin' Dimensional and then added the leaf and flowers images as shown.  The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings, stamped on Whisper White in Memento Black Ink.  The finishing touch is adding In Color Enamel Dots to the flower centers.

I hope you have been inspired to try this layout or use this stamp set to create some cards to share.  If you have any questions, please email me.

Triple Play Thursday 13 August 2020

Welcome to Triple Play Thursday, I'm so happy that you have stopped to visit my blog.   This week's feature is a returning stamp set, Harvest Hello and the matching Apple Builder punch.  This time of year, in the heat of the summer I start looking forward to Fall and the beginning of a new school year.  The cards today are inspired by just that!  Celebrating our teachers as they prepare for a new year, as well as looking forward to Fall and the beginning of the holiday season.

The featured card today is for all the teachers out there.  The sentiment could not be more appropriate.  To an A+ Teacher! The technique of adding Craft White Ink to black cardstock creates the same look as chalk on a blackboard, if anyone still remembers those days!?

The card dimensions require a couple layers.  I'm using a 5 1/4 x 4 inch piece of black cardstock, embossed with the Scripty embossing folder.  To create the "chalk" effect, lightly rub the embossed cardstock edges and top of the embossed surface with your Craft White Ink pad.  A light touch is key, carefully touching to get the subtle hints of white on the black card stock.

Next, I cut the woodgrain layers from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper. The square piece is cut from the largest stitched square die (2 1/2 inch) from the Stitched Shape Dies.  The stitched square is adhered using Stampin' Dimensionals, on top of the same woodgrain printed paper layer (2 1/4 x 3 inches).

Stamp the sentiment using Craft White Ink on a scrap of black cardstock, the cut out using the Ornate Frames dies.  There are two dies that layer nicely.  The top sentiment layer is "popped up" using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The apple images are colored with Real Red and Cherry Cobbler Blends.  On the apple slice I used Ivory for the center seed area, and the leaf images are colored using Old Olive.  Add a bow made with linen thread for the finishing touch.

Harvest Hello

The second card also uses the apple image and would be perfect for a note to your favorite teacher.  The color combination was inspired by the 2 1/4 x 3 inch piece of printed paper from 'Tis the Season DSP.  It is new in the Holiday catalog.  The colors are Cherry Cobbler and Real Red, traditional Christmas colors, but also a great combination to compliment the Blends used to color the apple.  The embossed layer is Real Red, and I used the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder.  The sentiment is stamped in Memento black and cut using the tag die from Ornate Frames.  A couple of Wonderful Gems from the Holiday catalog add just a touch of bling to the finished card.

Harvest Hello

The final card today is a look forward to Fall and all those wonderful autumn colors.   Can you almost smell the leaves on the ground at the pumpkin patch?  The printed paper on this card is also from the Holiday catalog, Gilded Autumn Specialty DSP.   The paper has metallic accents that coordinate with the Brushed Metallic Cardstock used for the stitched square.  The card base is Cajun Craze, with a piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock embossed using the Tasteful Textile embossing folder.  The pumpkin image is colored with Cajun Craze and Pumpkin Pie Blends, and the leaf uses Old Olive.  The sentiment is from Banner Year stamped on a scrap of Cajun Craze.  A linen thread bow provides the finishing touch.

Triple Play Thursday 16 July 2020

Triple Play Thursday from Sugar Creek Stamping 16 July 2020

Celebrate Sunflowers is taking center stage for Thursday's Triple Play.  One layout, one stamp set with three cards samples.  The layout is a little different,  the designer series paper cut at an angle and adhered to the embossed cardstock adds an interesting element.  The sunflower die cut image can take on so many different possibilities on the layout.   Pick your favorite in the samples below.

Flowers for Every Season

Each card today features the new 2020-2022 in-colors.  I'm highlighting the Bumble Bee card, such a bright happy color and the sentiment is perfect for any occasion.  I embossed the 4 1/4 Square of Bumble Bee card stock with the Tasteful Textile embossing folder and added the sunflower die in the same color.  The Sunflower image is stamped in Cinnamon Cider and colored with Old Olive, Mango Melody, and Cinnamon Cider Blends.  The printed paper is from Flowers for Every Season designer series paper.  Add some ribbon and enamel dots for the finishing touch.

Bumble Bee

My second sample uses the same bundle, featuring Cinnamon Cider card stock.  The Pinewood Planks embossing folder adds dimension to the 4 1/4 square of card stock.  Grab your Stampin' Blends to color the large Sunflower image.   See my Technique Tuesday post earlier this week for hints on coloring with Blends.  The leaves are die cut using old olive.  For the finishing touch, add your favorite sentiment, and some enamel dots.

Stampin' Up!

And finally, the third card uses a cute flower image from the coordinating stamp set in the Beginner Brochure (Item 152801) Four Season Floral Stamp Set, colored with Sea Side Spray and Old Olive Blends.  The card stock is Misty Moonlight and Sea Side Spray.  I used the Ornate Garden embossing folder and some springs cut from vellum cardstock.
