Triple Play Thursday 27 August 2020

Today's Triple Play Thursday features the Nothing's Better Than Bundle from the annual catalog.   The combination of sentiments are so much fun and are sure to put a smile on the face of the person receiving your card.  The layout is a fun fold, using a quarter sheet of 8-1/2" x 11" cardstock.

I'm so glad you are visiting today, I hope to provide lots of inspiration.   As always a complete list of supplies used for the feature card can be found at the bottom of this post.

The feature card today is using the word "Chocolate" die cut along with the matching chocolate treat image colored with Stampin' Blends.

Nothing's Better Than

The card base is 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" piece of Crumb Cake cardstock.  The next layer is a 5-1/4" X 4" piece of Early Espresso that I have heat embossed the chocolate pieces stamp using white embossing powder.

Nothing's Better Than

The center section of the card, the folding section is a piece of 8-1/2" x 3" Crumb Cake cardstock, scored at 4-1/4".  The top white pieces is 2-3/4" x 1-3/4", and the bottom piece is 2-3/4" x 3/4", each sentiment is stamped using Early Espresso ink.   I've also added a piece of Whisper White that measures 2-3/4" x 4" to the inside for writing a personal note. Next, I die cut the word "Chocolate" from a scrap of Early Espresso cardstock.  The chocolate image for the front is stamped on a scrap of Whisper White, and colored using Bronze, Ivory and Soft Suede Stampin' Blends.  The finishing touch is a couple In Color enamel dots.   What do you think?

The second card uses some bright happy colors and use my go to beverage of choice in the morning for the theme.

Nothing's Better Than

The 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" card base is Magenta Madness.  I've stamped the coffee cup image on the left side of a piece of Pumpkin Pie using Pumpkin Pie ink, then embossed the right side of this layer using the Wrapped in Texture embossing folder.  The center section uses an 8-1/2" x 3" piece of Magenta Madness.   The cup is stamped in Early Espresso, with Pool Party ink to add the background color.   The word "Coffee" is cut from a scrap of Early Espresso and the remaining sentiment is stamped using Magenta Madness ink.  For the finishing touch I've added some Artistry Blooms Sequins.  What do you think about this one?  Do you have a favorite?

And the last card today is for my sweet friends waiting on happy hour.  My favorite sentiment in the set is "because adulting is hard".   Who do you know that needs to receive this hug in the mail?

Nothing's Better Than

The card base and center section are Pool Party cardstock.  The 5-1/4" x 4" piece is Petal Pink with the cocktail image stamped on the left side in Petal Pink ink.  The entire layer is embossed using the Subtle 3D embossing folder.  The drink image in the center is stamped on a scrap of Whisper White using Memento black ink.  I've used the ice cube drink stamp, first inking it up with Petal Pink, then stamped off once on a scrap of paper, next using a sponge dauber I added a little Calypso Coral ink to the bottom part of the stamp, then stamped onto the paper as shown to get that darker look at the bottom of the drink.   The umbrella and slice of lemon are colored with blends Mango Melody and Pool Party, but there are also stamps in this set that will fill in these pieces.  For the finishing touch, sprinkle on some Artistry Blooms Sequins.

Leave me a comment I would love to know which is your favorite?

Technique Tuesday 25 August 2020

Welcome to this week's Technique Tuesday.  I'm so thankful that you have found my blog and are stopping by to see today's card.   I'm featuring the Celebration Tidings Bundle. You will be seeing more from this set.  The dies are very versatile, and the coordinating printed paper Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper is the focal topic for today's tip about choosing colors for a card.

So, how to you choice color combinations?   The answer for me is found on the packaging of printed paper or Designer Series Paper (DSP).   Stampin' Up! makes it so easy, they tell you right on the packaging the colors that coordinate with each package of DSP.

Celebration Tidings Bundle

For the card today all the coordinating colors are pulled from the piece of DSP.  The card base is Rich Razzleberry and the Pumpkin Pie border dies cut pieces are cut from the Ornate Borders dies.   For the stamped image, I used one of the die cut from the Celebration Tidings Bundle and stamped the Pumpkin boarder image using Memento Black ink.   Grab some Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive Blends to color in the images.

Celebration Tidings Bundle

The sentiment is from Country Home stamp set.  I masked all but the word Thankful with drafting tape, then inked with Blackberry Bliss.  The important part of masking is to remember to remove the tape before you stamp the image to the paper, ask me how I know!!!  Next I colored a piece of Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon using the dark Pumpkin Pie blend, tied the colored ribbon into a bow and add some rhinestones from the Holiday Rhinestone Jewels.

A full list of products used is at the bottom of this post.  Hope I have inspired you to create a card like this.

Triple Play Thursday 20 August 2020

Welcome everyone!!!  I am so very happy you have joined me today for another edition of Triple Play Thursday.   The stamp set featured this week is Basket of Blooms.   The images are perfect for creating beautiful and cheerful hand made card to share with someone special.

Basket of Blooms

The featured card today uses the basket image and the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper. Note the orientation on this card is horizontal, not vertical like the other two cards today.   This layout is very flexible and looks great for both orientations.

Basket of Blooms

Started with a piece of 5" x 4 1/4" Very Vanilla cardstock.  Emboss using the Tasteful Textile embossing folder then wrapped with Linen Thread.  Next, stamp the basket image using Gray Granite Ink on a piece of DSP from the In Good Taste printed paper.  The basket is then hand cut (fussy cut) from the DSP.  The coordinating piece of printed paper is 3" x 4" and is layered behind the Stitched So Sweetly die, slightly offset at an angle.  I'm using the second to largest Stitched So Sweetly die cut from Very Vanilla cardstock.   The flowers are stamped in Gray Granite ink on Very Vanilla and then colored with Calypso Coral (center) and Petal Pink (petal ends) Blends.  The leaves are also stamped in Gray Granite on Very Vanilla cardstock and colored with Old Olive Blends, then fussy cut.  The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings stamped in Early Espresso on a piece of Very Vanilla.  The flowers are adhered using Stampin' Dimensional with Champaign Rhinestones added to make the centers sparkle.  A beautiful card for any occasion, simply adjust the sentiment.

The second card shifts orientation to vertical, and highlights some bright new In Colors, Magenta Madness and Bumblebee.

Basket of Bloom

The background layer of this card is embossed with the Brick & Mortar embossing folder, then spritzed using the Magenta Madness Blends.  Tie a Magenta Madness ribbon around the embossed layer, then adhered to a Thick Whisper White card base.   The printed paper is from the Flowers for Every Season Designer Series Paper.   Next, to create the focal image, the flower pot was stamped on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock using Memento Black Ink, then colored with Cinnamon Cider Blends and fussy cut out.  The flowers were stamped with Memento Black Ink and the smaller flowers are colored with Mango Melody and fussy cut, and the larger flowers were colored with Magenta Madness and punched out with the coordinating Small Bloom punch.  I've added Wink of Stella to each flower, for a little sparkle.  The leaf images are stamped directly on the Stitched So Sweetly die, and colored with Granny Apple Green.   I adhered the flower pot using Stampin' Dimensional and then added the flowers. The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings stamped in Magenta Madness on a piece of Whisper White.  The finishing touch is adding 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots to the flower centers and sprinkled on the card.

The final card today also uses In Colors, both current year (Just Jade) and last year (Pretty Peacock).

Basket of Blooms

The background layer of this card is embossed with the Brick & Mortar embossing folder on Gray Granite cardstock.  Next tie a Just Jade ribbon around the embossed layer, then adhered to a Just Jade card base.   The Stitched So Sweetly dies is cut from printed paper using the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper.   The 3" x 4" piece is Pretty Peacock card stock, separated using the faux suede technique. Next, to create the focal image, the flower pot was stamped on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock using Memento Black Ink, and colored with Just Jade Blends and fussy cut out.  The flowers were stamped with Memento Black Ink and colored with Highland Heather and Pool Party and fussy cut.  The leaf images are stamped in Memento Black Ink and colored with Pretty Peacock Blends.   I adhered the flower pot using Stampin' Dimensional and then added the leaf and flowers images as shown.  The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings, stamped on Whisper White in Memento Black Ink.  The finishing touch is adding In Color Enamel Dots to the flower centers.

I hope you have been inspired to try this layout or use this stamp set to create some cards to share.  If you have any questions, please email me.
