Tuesday’s Technique from Sugar Creek Stamping; 30 June 2020

Texture, you know that is a must for my cards.   I like adding dimension and texture.   How about a very easy technique today.   One that may cause some of you to cringe.  Wait for it… Wad up you piece of paper before adhering it to your card.    Yes, I said make a paper ball, just like when you were in school and were getting ready to toss your homework into the wastepaper basket.

The background layer on today’s card was embossed with the Textures embossing folder, then wadded into a ball.  I roughed up the edges with my paper snips and then used multi-purpose glue to adhere to the card base.   I’m using gray granite as the card base, and textured layer.   The sentiment and heat embossed image are from the Positive Thoughts stamp set and matching dies.  I used printed paper from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper, cutting flags with the coordinating dies from that Tasteful Labels Dies.   The In Good Taste Suite of products is a must have, so very versatile.  The braided ribbon trim ties all the colors together.

Sugar Creek Stamping Sunday Inspiration 28 June 2020

Sunday Inspiration from Sugar Creek Stamping   28 June 2020

I hope each of you had a wonderful weekend.  Busy times here at Sugar Creek.  In the summer the garden waits on no one.   When the vegetables are ripe, they are ready.   Green beans were in need of attention this weekend before I could get into my craft room.  But with plenty of help, the first picking is canned and ready to enjoy all winter long.

Here is what was happening in my craft room.   I wanted to play with the new stamp set Basket of Blooms.  The Small Bloom punch coordinates with the largest flower images in this set.   The sentiment I used for this card comes from Massive Thanks.  The card base is Gray Granite.

 Massive Thanks

Get out your Stampin' Blends, there is some coloring and fussy cutting involved. Use your favorite colors. I used Magenta Madness, Mango Melody, Pool Party and Granny Apple Green. I stamped the images in Gray Granite.

The basket was stamped on a scrap of printed paper from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper.   The woodgrain designs on this paper are so realistic, and perfect for the basket weave.   The strips along the Granny Apple DSP were die cut using one of the edge pieces from the Ornate Border Dies (optional) or you can use 1/4 inch of card stock.

Sugar Creek Stamping

I like to dry fit everything, no adhesive to start with.   Just place all the pieces on the Large Stitched Circle background.   Arrange the flowers and leaves where you like them, and then get the Dimensionals and glue dots.   Add a linen thread bow, some enamel dots, and Wink of Stella on the flowers to make them sparkle!

Don't forget the inside.   Massive Thanks stamp set has an outside sentiment and a coordinating inside sentiment.  I added a 1/2 inch strip of coordinate Granny Apple Green DSP to the inside.

There is still time, only a few days left in June!

What else is going on this month?
